It is well known that operating in extreme cold is exceptionally challenging for mobile computing. To compensate, mobile computing customers could opt for units designed exclusively for cold storage applications but in return have to pay a higher purchase price, use a heavier product and sacrifice the ergonomic design and battery life. The CK71 by Intermec tackles the challenge of cold by utilizing ultra-rugged and no compromise mobile computing. The CK71 is submersible, can survive a drop from 8 ft. (2.4m), and has nearly indestructible keypads complemented with Gorilla Glass touch panel.
When used in -22°F (-30°C) for 45 minutes with the loudest beeper volume, followed by 15 minutes in room temperature climate, the CK71 battery life exceeded 7 hours. These results, from a test by Intermec, show that the CK71 surely meets the challenges faced by extreme cold.
